Confined to bed drawing up military plans

Once a sickly child now a sickly man

Tuberculosis without neurosis

Dancing while sitting in a chair

Travelled to Algiers to spend a year

An adventurer’s heart from the start

But the man in disguise did surmise

Unrequited love was a more terrible fate

(Oh but then came the week not for the meek)

Jewel ringed hand and majestic sword

Dressed for the occasion without persuasion

He had more courage on the tip of his finger

Than all commandants put together

An unusual sight for a so called felon

But such is the nature of rebellion

And being on his way to heaven

At the end of that week not for the meek
