This Town

This town lives and breathes by its own accord and rhythm,
And like the Sea it is definitely female in form,
And if you live here long enough you develop a sense of what mood she may be in at any given time:
Whether or not she is pleased with personal progress and contributions made,
or perhaps deeply disappointed with some fantastic behavior that has left you completely unawares,
So beware the wrath of a woman scorned as her Sea state can vary wildly,
And the crests and the troughs of the raging sea can seep into your little world as if on a whim,
Leaving you suddenly gasping for air,
But like the Saint that she is calm waters and peaceful tranquility inevitably return,
And I do wonder is it the people who are the driving force behind all of this phenomena,
Or is it something much more powerful hidden deep underground,
Lying dormant in some little church not yet discovered,
Perhaps residing within the ancient graveyard by the Holy well,
Or deep inside Mass Rock far up on the hillside on the other side of town.
